Stop Press - Towns Women Guild join fight
The Townswomen's Guild have joined the fight
for parents and the wider family to be fully protected from
the State:
We campaign on resolutions that have been mandated
by our national membership at our annual National Council
Meeting (NCM) - these mandates then form the backbone of our
work and policy for the forthcoming year. Mandates over the
last 50 years have encompassed a wide range of subjects. More
recent ones include the rights of same sex couples and raising
awareness of the problem of human trafficking.
Townswomen's current madates, passed at the
June 2004 NCM were:
'Townswomen's Guilds in Council assembled urges
for equal consideration to be given to the rights and access
of both parents upon divorce and separation cases, with further
consideration given to the rights of fathers'.
'Townswomen's Guilds in Council assembled urges
for a wider understanding and awareness of the problem of
children sexually harming others'.
TGHQ has since been working on these mandates.
Please look out for future developments.
If you would like to write a letter to your
local Member of Parliament to ensure that Townswomen's voice
is heard on these subjects, please contact at TGHQ for further
information or advice.
